You may have woken up this morning feeling a bit sticky and unrested, but there could be a good reason for feeling groggy today! There has been an extended period of warm weather causing those uncomfortable nights with the temperature falling to 23C last night.

This week it will continue to be hot, hot, HOT! However there will be a few exceptions with a slight cooler change and isolated thunderstorms. Phil King, weather bureau senior meteorologist says that bushfire risks increase this week with the heat and the risk of of lightning striking dry areas. "It won't be that significant in terms of rainfall this week, it's more of a concern for fires in dry areas, February is usually the hottest month but we haven't had the extreme heat as earlier in the season."

Melbourne is forecast to hit a whopping 35C today, dropping to 27C on Wednesday before creeping right back up to 33C on Saturday with another hot week following.
